Copolymeric compounds which carry side N-heterocyclic rings and contain the recurring structural unit of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and R.sub.4 is a N-heterocyclic substituent, their preparation and their use as light stabilizers and UV absorbers in organic material and also the organic material stabilized with the aid of these compounds.
