Abstract
A process for sealing a phosphate coating on metal includes the steps: (a) wetting the phosphate coated metal with a composition consisting essentially of an aqueous acidic solution containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of hypophosphorous acid, salts of hypophosphorous acid and sodium hypophosphite, (b) and then drying the thus wetted phosphate coated metal. The solution may also contain another member selected from the group consisting of iron, steel, zinc and aluminum.
