Compounds of formula I ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R.sub.1 is methyl, ethyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy or halogen R.sub.2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl R.sub.3 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl M is hydrogen or one equivalent of a cation and ring A may be unsubstituted or substituted by up to three substituents selected from C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, halogen and C.sub.2-4 acylamino are useful anionic dyestuffs having superior alkali resistance for the dyeing and printing of natural and synthetic polyamides, especially nylon.
