Abstract
A process for the in-line preparation of gelatin solutions comprising (a) mixing gelatin particles with an aqueous solution to wet the gelatin forming a gelatin-aqueous solution mixture, (b) heating rapidly said mixture to a temperature capable of digesting gelatin in said mixture, and (c) maintaining the digested gelatin at said temperature for a period to dissolve the gelatin particles into the aqueous solution. The process provides gelatin solutions for photographic uses in an improved manner without the general dissolution problems. The process is quick and is accomplished in-line, preferably continuously.
