Abstract
An optically active compound having a high twistability and almost no change in the intrinsic pitch depending on temperature, and a liquid crystal composition comprising the compound are provided, which optically active compound is expressed by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represent 1-20C alkyl or alkoxy, halogen or H; l, m and n each represent 0 or 1; and ##STR2## wherein Y represents H, halogen or cyano.
