Abstract
There is disclosed an image recording apparatus with a detachable recording head. The head is equipped with a non-volatile memory which contains data representing the recording characteristics of the head and data (check sum or parity data) enabling to identify whether the head matches the apparatus. At the start of power supply, the recording apparatus reads these data and identifies whether a matching head is mounted.
