Compounds represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a protective group for a hydroxyl group, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 combine to represent a protective group for hydroxyl groups, and R.sub.3 represents CH.sub.3 O-- or CH.sub.3 NH--. These compounds exhibit a strong effect to inhibit proliferation of cancer cells and are expected to be used as a carcinostatic agent.
