Abstract

Water-thinnable coating compositions useful in electrocoating comprise A. a mixture of A.sub.1. 50-95% by weight of one or more oligomeric or polymeric polyaddition or polycondensation compounds which have on average a molecular weight of from 200 to 20,000 and contain per molecule at least two hydroxyl groups and at least two primary and/or secondary amino groups, and A.sub.2. 5-50% by weight of a crosslinker that is reactive toward component A.sub.1, and B. a mixture of B.sub.1. 90-99.9% by weight of one or more radical-polymerizable compounds which have an average molecular weight of from 100 to 10,000 and contain per molecule at least two olefinic double bonds, and B.sub.2. 0.1-10% by weight of a free radical initiator having a decomposition temperature within the range 50-150.degree. C., the ratio of mixture A to mixture B being from 10:1 to 1:10 and mixture A being substantially chemically inert toward mixture B.
