Abstract

A liquid dishwashing-detergent composition containing an anionic surfactant, at least two types of amphoteric compounds, and a nonionic surface active compound. The amphoteric compounds are characterized by general formula (I) and (III) or (IV): ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrocarbon group having 7-22 carbon atoms, n is 0 or 1, A is a carbonyl group (C(O)), a group (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.z or a group (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.z in which z is an integer from 1 to 5, R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, x is 2 or 3, y is an integer from 0 to 4, Q is the group --R.sub.2 COOM in which R.sub.2 is an alkylene group having 1-6 carbon atoms and M is hydrogen or an ion from the groups alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, ammonium and substituted ammonium, and B is hydrogen or a group Q as defined above; ##STR2## wherein R is a longer hydrophobic hydrocarbon group having at least 7 carbon atoms, R' is an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, n is 1 or 2, and M is hydrogen or a sodium ion. The nonionic surface-active compounds consist of ethoxylated and/or propoxylated fatty alcohols.
