Abstract

A method is provided for preparing silicone-containing compositions represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R is a organosilicone chain represented by the formula: ##STR2## wherein: R.sub.5, which can be the same or different, is selected from R.sub.6, at least one group of the --(CH.sub.2).sub.n1 --B.sub.n2 --(CH.sub.2).sub.n3 -- and mixtures thereof: R.sub.6 is selected from alkyl, aryl and olefin; R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, are selected from alkyl, aryl, polyoxyalkylene, alkaryl, aralkylene, and alkenyl; R.sub.1 is of the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl; R.sub.2 is hydrogen or an alkylene hydrocarbon group; and R.sub.3 is selected from --OH, --NH.sub.2, --R.sub.9 CONH--R.sub.9 COO and --H, wherein R.sub.9 is alkyl having from 1 to 22 carbon atoms. Wherein an organosilicone fluid having at least one carboxyl-functional group is reacted with a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl ethylene diamine compound at an elevated temperature for a time necessary to react the carboxyl functional group and provide for the cyclization of the reaction product.
