Abstract

The present invention relates to making precocious neomorphic embryoids (PNE) and their use for producing biological products. Specifically, the invention provides a method for increasing taxol production from embryogenic Taxus cultures by making precocious neomorphic embryoids. The invention further provides methods of inducing somatic embryogenesis in tissue cultures derived from varieties of Taxus. In addition, the present invention provides methods of obtaining taxol, or precursors thereof, using in vitro propagated somatic embryo tissues.
