Abstract
An apparatus for charging a shaft furnace, in which each of plane faces of a second segment of a guiding member of a unit for distributing a burden over a cross section of the furnace is formed so that its first line of intersection with a first vertical plane passing through its geometric center and tangentially to a circle lying in a horizontal plane and having the center on an axis of the furnace and the radius equal to the distance from the furnace axis to the geometric center, is inclined at angle '.alpha.' to the horizontal plane, the intersection lines of all plane faces forming a polygonal line, each subsequent length of the polygonal line, in a burden flow direction, making a greater angle of inclination with the horizontal plane than the preceding one, and a second line of intersection of each plane face with a second vertical plane passing through its geometric center and the furnace axis is inclined at angle '.beta.' to the horizontal plane, with angle '.beta.' increasing with the burden flow.
