Abstract
Disclosed is a system, for exchanging data among a plurality of devices, wherein a device can detect the state of another device without that device being powered on, and whereby usability can be enhanced. According to the system, during data communication a power supply device supplies power to a power reception device, and activates sections necessary for the power reception device. The state of the power reception device is detected by a power management unit, and the information that is obtained is transmitted across a data I/F unit to the power supply device, and stored in a storage unit. Based on the stored status information, the supply of power to the power reception device can be controlled.
