An optical disk with improved performance including a transparent substrate; and a recording layer over the substrate and a reflective layer formed of Au over the recording layer and having its property changed by heat treatment for a sufficient time and at a temperature in a range of about 50.degree.-120.degree. C. so as to significantly improve window margin, reflectivity, jitter.
