Abstract
The instant invention provides intermediates and processes for the preparation of compounds of formula IV ##STR1## wherein: n is 0, 1, or 2; R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl; X.sup.1 is hydrogen, cyano, 4-hydroxybenzoyl, 4-halobenzoyl, or 4-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy)benzoyl; Y is NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, 4-hydroxyphenyl, or 4-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy)phenyl; and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl.
