Abstract
A depsipeptide containing a non-natural amino acid(s) having the formula (1) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 alkyl group and others; R.sup.2 represents --O--CO--CH(R.sup.5)--X--CH(R.sup.6)--NH-- (wherein X represents N(R.sup.7)--CO, CH.sub.2 --CO, CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 and others, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, and R.sup.7 represent a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl group); R.sup.3 represents ##STR2## and wherein the remaining substituent variables are as defined herein. The above depsipeptides have a promoting activity on the production of apolipoprotein E, and are useful as a therapeutic agent for neurologic damages, especially dementia, and hyperlipemia.
