Abstract
A method and apparatus stabilize a vascular wall or vascular tissue during a surgical procedure. A stiffening member is inserted in a vessel to be accessed. The stiffening member is formed of a material having sufficient rigidity to significantly dampen movement of the vessel caused by normal heart action.
