A compound having the formula selected from the group consisting of a compound of formula I ##STR1## a compound of formula II ##STR2## a compound of formula III ##STR3## as well as and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, esters, solvates, metabolites, and prodrugs thereof, are useful in treating bacterial infections.
