Abstract
A heat resistant and heat sealable tear tape that can be used with a plastic package. The tear tape comprises a layer of an oriented film and a layer of a polymer sealant material. The polymer sealant has a melt temperature of below approximately 220.degree. F. A plastic package can be made having a tear tape to provide a hermetically sealed package with a tear tape.
