Abstract

A resampler device and method are used to convert a digital input signal string (S.sub.in) with an input-sampling rate into a digital output signal string (S.sub.out) with a higher output-sampling rate. Prior to interpolation, a time shift (t.sub.mod (n)/T.sub.out) is first determined for every sampling time (t'.sub.n) of the output signal string (s.sub.out) relative to a next sampling time (t.sub.i+1) of the input signal string (s.sub.in). Then the time shift (.DELTA.t(n)/T.sub.out) of the sampling time (t'.sub.n) of the output signal string (S.sub.out) relative to the preceding sampling time (t.sub.i) of the input signal string (S.sub.in) is determined from the previously determined time shift (t.sub.mod (n)/T.sub.out) relative to the next sampling time (t.sub.i+1).
