Abstract
A vitamin B.sub.12 supplement composition comprising vitamin B.sub.12 with and/or without added folic acid that is essentially free of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, as well as iron is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of using this vitamin composition to prevent brain and nervous system damage, such as peripheral nerve damage, as well as pernicious anemia, such as where such anemia is caused by a deficiency of vitamin B.sub.12 deficiency.
