Abstract

An optical recording medium has a substrate, and a recording layer formed thereon which contains at least one formazan chelate compound of formula (I), (II) or ##STR1## wherein A, B, A', B', A.sup.1, A.sup.2, B.sup.1, B.sup.2, Z, Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, M, p, and n are specified in the specification.
