Abstract
An interior rearview mirror system for use in a vehicle includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having a supplemental inflatable restraint system status display. A light emitting display element is responsive to at least one of an automatic occupant sensor or a user operated switch of the restraint system to indicate enablement of that system to an operator or passenger of the vehicle. The display element preferably includes a light source to backlight air bag active or air bag inactive indicia. A further display in the mirror assembly optionally provides vehicle, highway status, traffic, toll booth or other information. At least one additional electrical accessory such as an interior light or compass sensor may also be included.
