Abstract
The present invention provides systems and methods for coordinating calls within hybrid cells that support both an all services carrier and a best-efforts carrier, wherein the all services carrier supports real-time and non-real-time services and the best efforts carrier supports only non-real-time services. In one embodiment of the invention, the all services carrier is a 1.times.RTT carrier and the best-efforts carrier is an HDR carrier. Calls may be placed on either carrier and transferred between the carriers as circumstances dictate. In addition, the present invention provides systems and methods to dynamically determine the most appropriate carrier for a given call.
