Abstract
Fluids comprising an aqueous acid, synthetic polymer, metal crosslinking agent and lactic acid or a salt thereof have particular applicability in fracturing subterranean formations of an oil or gas well. The lactic acid acts as a delaying agent. As a result, crosslinking of the synthetic polymer and metal crosslinking agent typically occurs at a temperature of 100.degree. F. or higher.
