Abstract
The invention relates to a big end bearing shell (4, 6) for a connecting rod (2), consisting of titanium or a titanium alloy. The shell comprises a support layer (8, 20) consisting of steel and an anti-friction layer (16, 26) for the crankshaft. According to the invention, the back of the support layer (8, 20) is clad with a layer (10, 22) of tin bronze material, with a thickness of 10-50 .mu.m to prevent fretting corrosion and frictional abrasion.
