Abstract
A method of making a scratch resistant coated article is provided, the coated article also being resistant to attacks by at least some fluoride-based etchant(s) for at least a period of time. In certain example embodiments, the method includes using flame pyrolysis to deposit a layer, and then forming an anti-etch layer(s) over at least the underlayer(s) deposited by flame pyrolysis.
