Abstract
A disk storage system is disclosed, in which disk storage units themselves can autonomously transmit data to complement storage of data between the disk storage units without provision of an exclusive device for managing those disk storage units. The disk storage system includes a disk array system. The disk storage units are connected to one or more host computers and to at least two other disk storage units, the disk storage units comprising a data transmission means for executing the processing of transmission of data between them and the other disk storage units, and a connecting adapter retaining management information of data having been subjected to transmission processing by the data transmission means.
