Abstract

An ink-jet recording paper with a paper substrate that has a coating on at least one side, wherein the coating contains binder and inorganic pigment, and wherein:

(a) the substrate has a density in the range of 0.6 to 1.0 g/cm3 and a Cobb60 value in the range of 19-25 g/m2;(b) the coating consists solely of a single layer formed as a recording layer, which is applied directly to the substrate;(c) the pigment present in the recording layer consists of colloidal synthetic boehmite with a mean crystal size in the range of 10-50 nm; and(d) the binder present in the recording material consists of silanized polyvinyl alcohol to the extent of 80-100 wt. %.
