Abstract
A tool pick assembly is provided for insertion in a first bore having a first diameter. The tool pick assembly includes a tool pick having a shank with a diameter sized for receipt in a second bore having a second diameter, the second diameter being smaller than the first diameter, an adaptive sleeve retainer having a thickness for stably supporting the shank of the tool pick in the first bore, and a washer for compressing the adaptive sleeve retainer to aid insertion into the first bore. The adaptive sleeve retainer is configured to spring radially outward to retain the tool pick in the first bore. A push out force for pushing the tool pick out from the first bore is approximately ±10% of a push out force for pushing out from the first bore a tool pick having a shank with a diameter sized for receipt in the first bore.
