An electric braking system for a vehicle includes first and second sub-systems connected to each other by an electric line. The first sub-system, which includes a first dissipation device, controls braking in a first wheel set. The second sub-system, which includes a second dissipation device, controls braking in a second wheel set different from the first wheel set. The electric line is arranged such that:

    if the first dissipation device becomes inoperative, electrical power produced by the first sub-system is channeled towards the second dissipation device, andif the second dissipation device becomes inoperative, electrical power produced by the second sub-system is channeled towards the first dissipation device.
