The present invention relates to a method for coating a static or moving metal substrate with a simple or complex shape, by means of an ultra-thin mineral/organic hybrid coating layer with a thickness comprised between 50 to 500 nm, deposited on the substrate:

    from an aqueous solution comprising oxide nanoparticles,under basic pH conditions,said substrate being at a temperature lower than 50° C.,the total deposition and drying duration being less than 10 seconds,wherein the aqueous solution further comprises at least one pre-polymer.
