Arthrodesis apparatus for first and second bones (2, 3), comprising a nail (5) and an instrument (20) for putting the nail (5) into place, the instrument comprising a base (21) and compression means (22, 23) comprising control means (22) for causing the nail to move relative to the base (21) and holder means (23) for holding the second bone (3) relative to the base (21); a guide (11) for the nail, the guide (11) and the holder (23) being arranged and shaped to cooperate together in such a manner to as allow the nail to move relative to the holder (23) and move the first bone (2) and the second bone (3) towards each other.
