A detecting device, for facilitating a detection of tampering aimed at altering a metering of a measure-deliverable good or service, for providing useful information for detecting a presence of a remotely activated/deactivated tampering device by means of a radiofrequency control signal, the tampering device comprising a radio receiver of said radio frequency signal is described. The detecting device is a handheld device. The detecting device has at least one radiofrequency probe, provided with an antenna, and a signal processing circuit such as to receive a electric radiofrequency signal for providing, based on said signal, useful information for detecting the presence of a receiver.
