Abstract
The invention relates to a storage and mixing device for PMMA bone cements, having a cartridge (1) with a cylindrical interior, wherein the cylindrical interior is delimited on a front side by a cartridge head (3) with a closed delivery opening, a plunger (2) which is arranged to be axially movable in the cylindrical interior of the cartridge (1) and which is spaced from the cartridge head (3), wherein the plunger (2) circumferentially rests against the inner wall of the interior, so that the plunger (2) divides the interior of the cartridge (1) into two sections in a gas-tight manner, a powdery first parent component (4) of the bone cement, which is contained in the interior between the plunger (2) and the cartridge head (3), a feed- through (5) which is arranged in the cartridge head (3) or in the cylinder barrel of the cartridge (1) between the plunger (2) and the cartridge head (3), wherein the feed-through (5) is connected to a fluid line (6) in which a monomer liquid (42) as a second parent component (42) of the bone cement is contained or into which a monomer liquid (42) is fillable or introducible, a filter (36) which is arranged in the cartridge head (3), in the feed-through (5) and/or in the fluid line (6), wherein the filter (36) is permeable to the monomer liquid (42) and impermeable to the first parent component (4), wherein the plunger (2) is spaced from a back side (16) of the cylindrical interior, located opposite the front side, to an extent that, by moving the plunger (2) in the direction of the back side (16), a reduced pressure is producible in the interior of the cartridge (1) between the plunger (2) and the cartridge head (3), wherein the reduced pressure is able to suck the monomer liquid (42) out of the fluid line (6) into the interior of the cartridge (1). The invention also relates to methods for mixing the parent components (4, 42).
