Abstract
A method of augmenting sight in an individual is described. Image data relating to a field of view image of a scene viewed by the individual using an imaging sensor carried by the individual is obtained. The obtained image data is transmitted to a processor carried by the individual. The processor determines a region of interest within the field of view image and an image modification to be applied to the region of interest. The processor generates modified image data in dependence upon at least the determined image modification and a predetermined portion of the image data relating to the region of interest and relocates pixels to ensure that damaged areas of the individual's vision are avoided when the modified image data is presented to the individual. Relocating pixels comprises relocating pixels near a periphery of the damaged areas according to a spatial distribution model. The modified image data is displayed to the individual on a display device carried by the individual.
