Abstract
The invention relates to a melting trough for the production of a glass melt (60) from at least one solid starting material with a small proportion of bubbles, comprising • an inlet opening (11) and an outlet opening (12) for the molten glass to drain off, • a bottom boundary of the melting trough Floor (13), • at least two side walls (16) adjoining the floor (13) and laterally delimiting the melting tank, • a canopy (15) connected to the side walls (16) and delimiting the melting tank at the top, the melting tank having a melting section (10) and a refining section (20), the glass passing first through the melting section (10) and then through the refining section (20) when flowing in the direction of flow, the glass melt in the melting section (10) having a first bath depth B1 and in the refining section ( 20) has a second bath depth B2, wherein in a transition region of the melting tank between the melting section (10) and the refining section (20) a threshold (27) running transversely to the direction of flow is arranged in the base (13) of the melting tank, a third bath depth B5 above the threshold (27) being smaller than the first bath depth B1 and smaller than the second bath depth B2, the Melting furnace is set up in such a way that for melting the at least one starting material of the glass melt • an electrically generated, first thermal energy component (Q elec ) by means of a plurality of electrodes protruding into the glass melt and • one generated by burning fossil fuel second heat energy component (Q fossil ) is supplied in at least one burner (19c) arranged in a side wall (16) and / or in the canopy (15) above the glass melt, the total heat energy supplied resulting from the the first thermal energy component and the second thermal energy component, wherein the first thermal energy component is at least 30% of the total heat energy supplied, in the bottom n (13) of the melting tank in the flow direction of the glass melt (60) on the threshold (27), a first electrode row (21) running transversely to the flow direction and comprising a plurality of electrodes is arranged. A corresponding method for producing a glass melt is also explained.
