Abstract
A handle device which enables easy and safe opening/closing of a door in a single step without rotation of the handle, comprises: a handle section (A) mounted on the door 1 having a handle 3 which can be lifted up or pressed down relative to the surface of door, and a lock [14, figure 3] which can lock the handle in its lowest position; and a sliding section (B) having a sliding member 6, 9 slidable along the door 1. The sliding member 6,9 engages with the handle 3 to slide in response to the motion of the handle, and has a slot 18 which engages with and disengages from a hook 8 mounted on the door frame 7 in response to the slide of the sliding member 6,9 corresponding to the motion of the handle 3. Preferably the handle 3 pivots about an axis 4 which is parallel to the surface of the door 1, and the sliding member 6,9 has a plurality of slots to engage a plurality of hooks [as shown in Figure 7].
