Abstract
A swivel-type electrical outlet primarily including an outlet assembly, casing and mounting assembly. The outlet assembly has an outlet ball approximately spherical in shape, with imbedded stranded cable pigtails. The swivel-type outlet may return to a neutral position after a user pulls an electrical cord from an angle not directly perpendicular to the receptacle, since the outlet ball may swivel perpendicularly to the direction of the electrical cord pull. The casing accommodates the outlet and has a smooth internal surface to allow easy movement of the outlet ball. An elastic diaphragm, secured behind the outlet ball to the mounting assembly, forces the outlet ball back to its neutral position after the electrical plug has been disconnected. The mounting assembly supports the casing and is secured to a typical junction box.
