Abstract

A window mounted in recessed relation to an exterior wall of a structure is protected from high winds by a sheet of protective material having a height and width greater than a height and width of a window opening. An “L”-shaped bracket has a base and an arm formed integrally with one another. The base overlies the exterior wall and the arm overlies a vertical sidewall perpendicular to the plane of the window. The arm is secured by a pull pin that may be removed by occupants inside the structure if escape from the structure is required. A threaded stud extends from the base and a wing nut engages the threaded stud and secures a clamp against the sheet of protective material. In a preferred embodiment, the protective material is a high impact plastic.
