A cathode ray tube including a portion whose thickness becomes (2.78+0.0038.times.D).ltoreq.t1.ltoreq.(3.7+0.0038.times.D)[mm] where D is a diagonal axis length [mm] between rectangular corner portions of an effective screen of a panel, and t1 is a thickness [mm] at positions which occupy 75% of a length of a body portion extending from a sealing surface of the body portion to a yoke portion along a tube axis direction.
