An aqueous defoaming dispersion having a water phase and a dispersed phase, the dispersed phase containing; (a) from 70 to 98% by weight of fatty alcohols having melting points above 40.degree. C.; and (b) from 2 to 30% by weight of ketones having melting points above 45.degree. C., all weights being based on the weight of the dispersed phase.
