Abstract

A method of extracting data from a received signal including multi-path interference in a rake receiver. The method includes sampling and filtering the received signal; estimating a time delay .tau..sub.l between paths for the filtered samples .psi.(.tau.); and estimating channel complex coefficient c.sub.l for the filtered samples .psi.(.tau.). Transmitted data x(.tau..sub.l) is extracted from the filtered samples .psi.(.tau.) for each path l by solutions of simultaneous equations of the following filtered samples .psi.(.tau.) equation.psi..function..tau..times..function..tau..tau..times..LAMBDA..fu-nction..tau..times..times..function..tau..times..tau..times..LAMBDA..funct-ion..tau..times..function..tau..tau..times..function..tau..tau..times..LAM-BDA..function..tau..times..tau. ##EQU00001## wherein k is a particular path, N.sub.p is the number of visible paths, R.sub.ff(.tau..sub.l .tau..sub.o) is a double convolution matrix of the filtering process and R.sub.ff.sup.-1(.tau..sub.k- .sub.o) is the pseudo inverse, .LAMBDA..sub.ss(.tau..sub.l) is the product of spreading and scrambling matrices and .LAMBDA..sub.ss.sup.H(.tau..sub.k) is the inverse, and (.tau.) is noise.
