Abstract
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that decreases number of memories used for padding processing and conducts the padding processing without the need for rearrangement processing of pixel data and binary information. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with input means (501, 502) that input image data having shape information denoting within or outside of an object to a block in the unit of row, a 1st padding means (505) that applies padding to a pixel data group of each row based on the shape information attended with the pixel data and stores intermediate shape information denoting whether or not significant shape information exists in each row, a storage means (601) that stores the pixel data in the unit of row subjected to padding processing by the 1st padding means, and a 2nd padding means (507) that reads the pixel data subjected to padding processing in the row direction stored in the storage means in the unit of column and applies padding to the read data in the unit of column based on the intermediate shape information of each row obtained by the 1st padding means.
