Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a method for removing halides from Waelz oxide containing the halides. According to the method, halides contained in Waelz oxide, particularly, insoluble fluorides such as CaF_2 difficult to remove under normal pressure conditions and present in an insoluble state, can be effectively removed, and accordingly, additional processes for adjusting the concentration of fluorine or chlorine present in an electrolyte solution in a recovery process of valuable metals can be reduced and costs can be reduced. The method for removing halides from Waelz oxide comprises a pressurized alkali washing process and a repulping process, and alkali in the pressurized alkali washing process is 100 kg to 300 kg per ton of Waelz oxide cake.
