The disclosure relates to an oil-borne wood preservative composition for treating poles, posts, piling, cross ties and other wooden structures. The wood preservative composition comprises a fatty acid, bivalent copper, an organic triazole or imidazole (preferably selected from the group consisting of tebuconazole, cyproconazole, propiconazole, or triadimefon) or a quaternary ammonium compound, and an oil. Methods of producing the composition and methods of treating wood are also disclosed.
