The automatic control valve (10) has a tube (11) formed with fluid inlet apertures (14) having variable cross-sectional area and a cup-shaped flow control piston (16) which is axially movable within the tube to control flow rate of fluid passing through the apertures. A damping chamber (22) formed between the two opposed cup-shaped elements of the piston, is connected to an inner flow path. An independent claim is also included for valve assembly.
