Abstract
A sun visor clip (16) for aligning and attaching a sun visor (13) to a headliner (22) of a motor vehicle. The sun visor (13) has a mounting bezel (14) including a tubular center bearing (20) and a plurality of longitudinal grooves (38) formed in the tubular center bearing (20). The headliner (22) includes a visor opening (64), a recessed portion (74) surrounding the visor opening (64), and a plurality of depressions (62) spaced about the recessed portion (74). The sun visor clip (16) includes a base (42) defining a plane (44) and having an outer peripheral edge (46) and an inner peripheral edge (48) defining a center aperture (50). The sun visor clip (16) also includes a plurality of alignment tabs (56) projecting radially from the outer peripheral edge (46) for cooperation with the depressions (62) in the headliner (22) to align the sun visor clip (16) within the recessed portion (74) of the headliner (22). In addition, the sun visor clip (16) includes a plurality of guide tabs (52) projecting radially inwardly from the inner peripheral edge (48) for aligning each of the plurality of longitudinal grooves (38) in the tubular center bearing (20) whereby the sun visor clips (16) aligns the mounting bezel (14) with the headliner (22) upon receipt of the tubular center bearing (20) through the visor opening (64) and the center aperture (50) of the sun visor clip (16).
