A slider (10) is adapted for use with a reclosable fastener (12) for bags containing material. The reclosable fastener includes a first track (14) and a second track (16). The first track (14) includes a first profile (18), while the second track (16) includes a second profile (20). The first and second profiles (18, 20) are releasably engageable to each other. At least one of the first and second profiles has an interior portion. The slider (10) comprises a body (50) that includes a top, a first side, a second side and a separation member (52a) on an underside of the top. The separation member (52a) is adapted to open and close the fastener and includes a slider finger (52b) that extends generally downwardly from the top. The slider finger extends into an interior portion of the first profile so as to assist in removing material trapped in the interior portion of the first profile when closing the reclosable fastener.
