Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing substantially dendritic snow, comprising: a) feeding a flow of humid air (1) and a flow of cold air (9) into a substantially closed space in order to mix the two flows therein and thus to form an atmosphere supersaturated with water in the space; b) forming ice crystals and allowing snowflakes to grow from the supersaturated atmosphere within the substantially closed space, wherein the growing ice crystals and snowflakes are kept in a suspended state within the substantially closed space and allowed to grow for a predetermined time frame that is sufficient for obtaining snowflakes of a predefined size, wherein the suspended state is achieved in that the growing ice crystals and snowflakes are moved by the air flow on average along a substantially helical path, which causes a distribution of the snowflakes according to the size thereof along the substantially helical path; c) discharging the snowflakes having a predefined size after the predetermined time frame by means of a carrier air flow (3) through a discharge opening (7) of the substantially closed space.
